Néris-Les-Bains pedestrian path

This greenway follows the old Montluçon – Néris-les-Bains railway line and crosses three viaducts: the Sainte-Agathe viaduct, the Pérassier viaduct and the Néris viaduct. From the top of these structures, there are superb views.

The stabilised sand surface is smooth enough for good cycling (VTC preferred). Be careful, the route climbs up a slight and regular slope in the direction Montluçon – Néris.

Discover Néris-Les-Bains, its thermal baths, its Roman arena and its casino. Built on the site of the ancient thermal baths, the current thermal baths date from the 19th century and welcome patients in a majestic building, entirely modernised in the early 2000s.

Thanks to its thermal water with sedative, analgesic, balancing and relaxing virtues, the Néris-les-Bains spa is a leader in the global treatment of diseases of nervous origin as well as in the treatment of rheumatism.

Canal du Berry

A pleasant 51 km long linear route, between the towpath of the Berry Canal and charming Berry villages.

A natural destination to be explored on foot or by bike, ideal to recharge your batteries, observe the fauna and flora or the numerous works of art: locks, lock houses, Chantemerle and Tranchasse canal bridges, the Davoue and Marigny drawbridges. You can also take advantage of electric boat hire for a trip on the canal, or a visit to the museum dedicated to the history of the canal.

Ainay-Le-Château and Hérisson, medieval fortresses

Villages of character in the Bourbonnais bocage, let yourself be charmed by these medieval vestiges which sit proudly in the middle of the countryside.

Although the castle has now disappeared in Ainay Le Château, the towers still dominate the medieval village surrounded by recently restored ramparts. The visit leads through the old streets to discover the old restored houses and the 12th century clock gate.

Founded in the 5th century and set up as a châtellenie in the 12th century, the town of Hérisson developed at the foot of its fortress, surrounded by a wall flanked by twenty-two towers, in the hollow of a loop of the Aumance. The river bed was even diverted to form an additional natural obstacle to better protect the town!

Etang des Landes

In the commune of Lussat, in the Creuse, the Etang des Landes Nature Reserve is home to 950 animal species, including 240 birds, and 480 plant species, which can be approached via the Maison de la Réserve, observatories and equipped paths. Ponds, an apiary and an educational orchard have been set up on the territory of the Landes Pond Reserve. These are all opportunities to get closer to nature, while respecting the local environment.
